NASSCOM ® is India’s premier trade body and chamber of commerce for the IT industry, and the NASSCOM Gaming Forum (NGF) was set up ten years ago to provide a common platform to share best practices and knowledge to developers and businesses within the Indian gaming industry, especially the burgeoning indie game dev community. NGF is today the de-facto industry body for games in India.
The NASSCOM Game Developer Conference (NGDC) is India’s primary platform for creators and enthusiasts of computer, mobile, console, web, and social games to showcase, inspire, learn, and interact. NGDC aims to bring the country’s exciting gaming eco-system to the forefront, and is dedicated to its advancement through panels, super-pitches, tutorials, and more. The conference is conducted entirely by the industry, for the industry, with an advisory board and content selection committee comprising of the studio heads of most major game companies in India. The last edition featured over 2000 delegates, 100 showcases, 110 international and domestic speakers, and 10 workshops, in addition to publisher meetups, one-to- one investor pitches, and tracks focused on game design, publishing/advertising, game art and technology, production, and serious games.
In addition to recognising and acknowledging the best games from the industry, the NGF Awards seeks to establish recommended best practices for developers, and to bring international visibility and exposure for the work being done in India.
The four categories for the awards are:
Build Your Own game (BYOG) is an annual online game hackathon held across India. The top 5 participants will get a showcase opportunity at NGDC.
Game Jam Titans (GJT) is a game development competition open to all students, which will test their reflexes, critical thinking, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. Participants will be required to develop a PC game based on a theme that will be made known seven days prior to the event day. Winners from each city will get a chance to showcase their game at NGDC.
Successful startup founders from various domains are invited to share their experiences and interact with member startups. These are informal gatherings of alumni and current startups from our program.
