Nasscom 10,000 start-ups organises first ever techathon in kochi

Initiative to help empower software developers & programmers

Kochi, February 1st, 2016-

To stimulate and empower the new age software developers, The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), along with RapidValues organized a 24 hour Techathon at the NASSCOM Startup Warehouse, Infopark, Kochi. The event which happened for the first time in the city, brought together programmers, application developers and entrepreneurs involved in software and hardware development to collaborate, intensively, on software project development. The Techathon was inaugurated by CxO from companies in Kochi which included Venkatesh Thyagarajan, CEO Cabot Solutions; Arun Nair -10,000 Startups Nasscom; Sujith Unni, Nasscom; A. Bala Krishnan, Managing Director, Geojit Technologies; Rinish KN, CTO, RapidValue; Hrishikesh Nair, CEO, Infopark, Vincent N.P, Director- HR, Suyati Technologies; Shibu Basheer, CTO, Cabot Solutions and Shilen Sagunan, CEO, SS Consulting.

Kochi, over the years, has turned a hot destination for startups. Investors not only from India but across the globe are pumping money into startups based in here. To further encourage the young developers and entrepreneurs, NASSCOM 10,000 start-ups provided a platform to these young tech enthusiasts for self-expression and creativity through technology.

Mr. Rajat Tandon, Vice President, NASSCOM 10,000 start-up program, said, “Technology is the heart of every business idea. NASSCOM is always up for encouraging young tech enthusiasts and helping them build a strong software solution. We saw a lot enthusiasm from the participants and are proud partners in the city’s first ever Techathon.”

Mr. Rinish KN, CTO, RapidValue said, “We are pleased to conduct the Techathon and to help bring in technical enthusiasts to showcase their creativity through technology. We are expecting this to be one of the largest hackathon events in Kochi. Through this event, we wish to create more entrepreneurs, by giving an opportunity to creative professionals, to bring their ideas to life.”

Shortlisted participants with technical backgrounds came together, formed teams around an idea, and collaboratively, tried to code a unique solution. The solution was based around M-Governance, Mobile, Social, IoT, Analytics and Big Data. Over the time span of 24 hours, they worked with new technologies, brought together tons of code, and eventually, finished what they set out to build.

The winning team, Traffic Cop Solutions bagged a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, the first runners-up team, mykameez.com received Rs.50,000 and the second runners-up team, incepZen got Rs.25,000.

With an impressive gathering of over 100 participants, the applicants showed the best of their technical innovations and potential by building creative coding solutions.

10,000 Startups is an ambitious attempt by NASSCOM to scale up the start-up ecosystem in India by 10x. 10,000 Startups aims to enable incubation, funding and support for 10,000 technology startups in India over the next ten years.
